Cold, clammy, and nauseous

Stomach-twisting news today: J's father is on the verge of losing his job. His company doesn't have enough work for him, and he's too expensive, and they asked him to finish up some specific projects in the next two weeks. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh . . . I'm a little nervous and scared.

He has a couple of recruiters who call him regularly, but all the jobs they have are in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Nothing on the west coast, nothing here. Damn this economy.

Well, what can I do? If all the opportunities are on the East Coast, that's where we'll have to go. J's father needs a good job, and J needs to be with his father.

The prospect of moving east doesn't thrill me, in fact it makes me want to throw up a little, but I am trying to focus on the positive aspects. Lots and lots of Jews there, to say the very least, and it would be wonderful to have access to so many Jewish institutions. Synagogues, kosher food, schools . . . wow. Also, the cultural opportunities, double-wow.

But: The expense. The congestion. The logistics. The noise. Everything I dislike about Chicago, magnified. Heavy sigh.

No, positive! Must stay positive! Rah. Rah.
